Web Site Search Engines: Bing and Yahoo Merge – SEO

My bad...lolLearning about internet marketing certainly will include at least a bit of knowledge concerning the search engines. Of course this will undoubtedly include Google, Yahoo and Bing.

Search Engine Optimization or SEO wouldn’t be a term or concept if search engines didn’t exist. Where would we be today? Ponder. 1984? :)

This article discusses the partnership agreement with Microsoft, who now owns Yahoo and Bing. Question is, who will come out on top?

I’ve also posted a video featuring 2 SEO specialists from Australia discussing the ins and outs of each.

Best wishes to you.

Bing And Yahoo Merge, How Does This Effect Microsoft?

by Matt Fuller

Although it has not been widely publicized, after a recent partnership agreement in 2009, Microsoft now owns both Bing and Yahoo. However, when it comes to search engines, both have features which users like and dislike. For some, prefer Yahoo, especially when performing research. While others, more focused on accurate and up to date information regarding current trends, prefer Bing. In addition, Bing, unlike Yahoo has far superior graphic capabilities. Therefore to understand where both Microsoft and search engines may go in the future, one must ask the question: "Bing And Yahoo Search Engines. Who Will Be The Bigger Play And Why?"

So, how many people in the world use Bing and Yahoo? It is impossible for anyone to measure the number of people using any one search engine. However, the searches made can be monitored and are to acquire such statistics. Today, most all search engines monitor their search so as to know their current ranking in the industry.

Current data suggest that Bing maintains approximately 10.7 percent of usage which has risen another 4 percent over previous reports. Therefore, while still ahead with a market share of 17.5 percent relating to U. S. Searches, Yahoo may be ahead in the race at the moment; However, Bing is rapidly catching up and may very well surpass their percentages in the coming months if the trend continues.

Which one is most efficient, Bing or Yahoo? While Yahoo returns a great number of search results and is excellent at optimization, if one knows exactly what details they are looking for on a topic, then Bing may be a more efficient way to go. For example, if one is looking for a definition and description of an animal or object, then Bing displays all the detailed information regarding the topic. For this reason, Bing is better for obtaining specific details whereas Yahoo may work better for doing research on outdated information.

Unlike Yahoo, part of the primary scope of Bing is that it can display results in an answer format. Something technology had not yet found a way to do when Yahoo came along over ten years ago. To this end, both have their own special uses, however Bing is by far the most efficient of the two.

Bing and Yahoo are both incredibly powerful websites when it comes to Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Depending on the needs of the user, either Bing or Yahoo are quite useful when it comes to searching for information or people. However, where Bing is current and up to date, Yahoo tends to deliver both current and outdated information.

Are either more efficient? Yes, Bing. For, while Yahoo returns a great number of results during each and every search, Bing is more focused on a specific topic which allows for easier access to the information requested. Yahoo on the other hand, often returns both current and cached or outdated back links (which are the links one receives at the end of a search process and clicks on to move to the desired page) to information which can be both useful and useless. To this end, while both remain helpful in obtaining information, it is Bing that is the most efficient with regards to results.

Given the recent push into the search engine market by both engines, experts can agree that Google will still hold the majority of market share for years to come, probably forever.

One must understand both statistics and ways in which each Bing and Yahoo are used in order to answer the question, "Yahoo And Bing Search Engines. Whose Going To Be The Bigger Player And Why?" However, once one understands same, then it is clearly easy to see that according to recent statistics Bing is moving into the twenty first century, right along with Yahoo and Microsoft. However, in just a few short years, Bing may very well pass Yahoo in overall usage thus proving even more beneficial to Microsoft than it has today.

Hello “Excel Forum” and sandrcars. B. L. here…

I went into yahoo search and put your domain in there. It appears your site has now been indexed by Yahoo (and Google and Bing) but you may want to consider working on some good SEO work to move up in the rankings. That is unless the keyword you are trying to rank for is “sandrcars”.

Can you tell me what you are trying to rank for?
      Best wishes to you,

I hate them both. All search engines care about is getting people to shop and not providing them with quality information. Unfortunately, I have to use them because Wikipedia and About.com don’t provide the cutting edge info that maven’s do.

No! I don’t care about sponsored links! I just want information.
